Following on from the Hope Cymru launch event in 2022, we are excited to welcome you to this year’s Hope Cymru annual FREE event! Join different churches from across the nation to celebrate the hope we share in Jesus, whilst encouraging one another to go forth and share this hope with the people of Wales and beyond. It will be a celebration of the rich heritage, diverse culture and bright future of Wales.
NEW for Hope Cymru 2023
We are delighted to have the Archbishop of Wales with us on the day to open the event with a prayer for the project. Performances will reflect the history of Wales, its present and its future, including: the Pendyrus Welsh Choir, the Tamil Christian Fellowship and the ‘Hope Cymru Kids Choir‘, a brand new choir established for this event and will be featured in our film series. Julia Plaut from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be orchestrating the children who represent the future of faith in Wales.
There will be a ‘Kids Extravaganza‘ with activities for primary-aged children run by the incredible Young Faith Matters team from the Llandaff diocese.
Plus, don’t miss out on the delicious food we will share together (if you came to our launch, you will remember how much the cuisine played a role in our celebration!).
A Multimedia Project from Wales, for Wales
- We are celebrating the release of our talk shows, which are 30 minute engaging episodes full of exciting interviews with clergy, professors, and Christian leaders in the diocese covering a wide range of topics relating to faith in the modern world. These will be available on our YouTube channel and the Hope Cymru Podcast.
- Our two English/Welsh bilingual Christmas films will also be released which celebrates the real hope of Christmas that shines light into our dark world. Personal testimonies, powerful storytelling and compelling cinematography will set the scene of the greatest story ever told.
- The first season of the Hope Cymru film project will be released in 2024 on the origins of the universe and the beginning of the story of Jesus. The ten season film project will explore the journey the church and faith in Jesus has taken in Wales throughout history, where it is now, and its future. We hope it will restore confidence in the influence and importance of faith in Wales and encourage people to explore their connection to the deep roots of Christianity that this wonderful country has.
