Hope Cymru 2023 was a time of song, story, and celebration where hundreds of individuals from across Wales came together to be encouraged in the hope found in Jesus Christ. If you missed out on attending, you can watch the livestream on our YouTube channel. Better still, come along to the next event with further details available soon.

Here are 5 highlights from the annual Hope Cymru 2023 event:

1. Three fantastic choirs.

Llandaff Cathedral provided a stunning setting with great acoustics, optimising the experience of listening to three amazing choirs. Hearing the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir was a stunning experience. They sang a variety of songs that rippled through time, transporting us to and reminding us of the rich heritage the Christian faith plays in Welsh history and song.

The Tamil Christian Fellowship was a beautiful reminder of the diverse, cultural and international church of Christ. It was a blessing to see the younger and older generations coming alongside one another to praise Jesus in song.

The brand new Hope Cymru Kids Choir performed their debut after just six weeks of rehearsals. Julia Plaut from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama led them in a powerful set, and they sounded incredible. It was moving to see them lifting the name of Jesus high in hope-filled wonder and praise, representing the future of the Christian faith in Wales.

2. A time of worship.

After an amazing musical start to the celebration, there was a time of sung worship led by a wonderful team of musicians. We were blessed to have a British Sign Language (BSL) interpretor with us which enabled the deaf community to join along throughout.

3. Delicious food.

We had a selection of finger foods to enjoy this year. The delicious Hope Cymru cake might have to become a regular staple. It wouldn’t be a celebration without cake, right?

4. The vision of Hope Cymru.

The talk at Hope Cymru 2023 was from Marcus Nelson. If you spend a few moments with Marcus, you know just how much Jesus means to him. He longs to share Christ’s love with others as far and wide as possible. His heart to share the good news of the gospel is why Hope Cymru started. The vision of Hope Cymru is to see the land of Wales reconnected with Jesus once again, to simply share the story of Jesus and to see men, women, boys and girls from every background come to know, love, and trust Him.

5. Generations coming together.

Bringing people together from different backgrounds, ages and stages of life is a privilege. When churches across Wales come together to worship, it’s a powerful reminder that we are united in Christ Jesus, commissioned and strengthened to be sent out to make disciples. The Lord is with His people and we get a glimpse of the grace and glory of being together for eternity, praising our Lord.
